Wayne has persuaded Howard and Marti (the owners) of Franklin’s Café & Wine Bar to give our guests reservations for their truly gourmet four-course Valentine’s Night Candlelight Dinner which includes the sampling of six different wines or microbrewery beers as an included part of this package.

How about starting with Watercress and Lobster Bisque with Brie, then a Bib Lettuce, Spiced Pecan Salad with a Mustard/Riesling Vinaigrette. The Entrées: Well, How does Seared Ahi Tuna or Maple Glazed Pork Tenderloin sound? Both come with wonderful gourmet sides. And finally, there is “Death by Chocolate” and a few other lighter desserts for those that are afraid they will die if they eat Chocolate. J

Whew! AAA Inspection Time~We continue to be a Top Level 3 Diamond Property

We had a Halloween Spook in the person of the Triple A inspector. He comes unannounced 4 times a year and spends an hour or two checking Beds, Bath, Kitchens, and common areas for cleanliness, amenities, and the appearance and maintenance of our property.
Bed and Breakfast properties are rated from one to three Diamonds, with 3 being the very best in all categories. We have been a 3-Diamond property from the start, but changes and repairs must be made every year to retain that rating in their lodging guide.
This year, we we spiffed-up by put new ceramic tile in all bathrooms and kitchens. Beautiful! Also we have replace the old analog TV's with Flat-Panel HD TV-DVD combos, as well as putting new pillow-top mattresses (from Sears, thanks to Roger! ). How's that for upping the "Night's Delight" for our Stonewall family.
We have also installed a completely new state-of-the art Climate Control System with Electronic Filters, Humidifiers, that individually zones every guest room as well as the common areas. That means, no dust or allergens, humidity and temperature controlled by the guest on demand!,
The bottom line! You will not find a better B&B in comfort, amenities, service, food, location, and bang for the buck!!! I hope you agree, keep sending in those rave reviews. They help us enormously!
I'm doing my part to help the economy :-)!

HARRISONBURG — Former Gov. Mark Warner and his friends love challenges. They whizzed through the city’s downtown and James Madison University on Friday morning as part of their three-day, approximately 150-mile bike ride through the Shenandoah Valley. The region has a national reputation for cycling, Warner said of the choice for the trip. The riders chose the Valley because of the region’s scenic vistas and rolling hills, the former governor said. The riders covered 65 miles around Bridgewater on Thursday. Warner said he was not used to such a long distance. Warner did well, though, according to Wayne Engel, co-owner of the Stonewall Jackson Inn. "When they came," Engel said, "Warner was leading the pack."

Prince Michel Wine Tasting

Prince Michel Vineyard and Winery would like to invite the guests of the Stonewall Jackson Inn to a complementary tour and tasting of the winery and vineyard. We have therefore arranged a private winery tour and tasting not available to the general public. We have two scheduled tours available at 1:00pm each Saturday and Sunday. This fun and in-depth tour includes a formal wine tasting with light hor d’oeuvers, tour of the state-of-the-art wine making facility, and, weather permitting, walking tour of the expansive grounds and vineyards. Each guest will also receive a Prince Michel wine glass!
