The temperature is rising here in the ‘Burg, and the events calendar is warming up, too. With longer days, fewer layers, and heightened spirits, we’re itching to get out of the house (err, Inn) and get back to exploring.
Here are a few of the things you won’t want to miss if you’ll be visiting the Shenandoah Valley in March or April:
March 3–9 Taste of Downtown
Celebrate our (incredible) local restaurants with lots of specials and culinary delights!
March 8, 9, 15, 16 Highland Maple Festival
A local legacy. Sugar house tours and everything maple (from roasted chicken to ice cream to cotton candy to donuts) will make you fall in love with the Valley.
March 17 St. Patrick’s Day @ The Arboretum
The Highland Pipes and Celtic Fiddle artists will be performing at the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum, a beautiful stop at any time of the year. Free!
March 22–April 13 Green Valley Book Fair
Since 1971, this must-experience event features over 500,000 books in 60+ categories — all marked at wholesale prices.
April 26–27 The Virginia Hot Glass Festival
Demonstrations of skilled hot glass artistry and stone carving. At the Sunspots Studio out in Staunton.
April 26 Rocktown Beer & Music Festival
The 4th annual festival, celebrating local craft beer. They do sell out, so get your tickets early.
April 26–May3 Historic Garden Week
You’re welcomed to 250+ of Virginia’s most beautiful homes. The Garden Club of Virginia creates over 2,000 fabulous floral arrangements for the event.
We’ll be back with more once May is on the horizon. Stay tuned! In the meantime, you can view or subscribe to our Google Calendar for more happenings and details. Virginia.org is another good resource.
